CNN —A Powerball ticket sold in Oregon has won the nearly $1.33 billion jackpot – the fourth-largest jackpot in the history of the game, according to Powerball. It’s now the eighth largest among US lottery jackpot games, Powerball said in a news release. The jackpot was previously won on New Year’s Day when a ticket in Michigan scored an $842.4 million jackpot. The largest Powerball jackpot – and the largest US lottery prize – ever won was $2.04 billion by a ticket purchased in California in November 2022, according to the lottery. Winning the Powerball jackpot means a ticket matched all five white balls plus the red Powerball.

Just days after CSX announced a new rail line in response to the Port of Baltimore closure, the Baltimore-bound containers that were diverted to the Port of New York and New Jersey are back being unloaded in Baltimore. CSX started discussions last week with Ports America to see how it could effectively move the diverted cargo. The train route moving the diverted cargo includes Chicago; Kearney, New Jersey; and Baltimore. Norfolk is in discussions with Ports America to extend this service directly on-dock at their Seagirt Intermodal Container Transfer Facility. As the Port of Baltimore crisis unfolded, many major ocean carriers invoked contract clauses transferring responsibility for transportation of cargo from diverted ports to shipping clients.

CNN —The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated $1.23 billion after yet another lottery drawing yielded no grand prize winner Wednesday night. This has been one of the game’s longest streaks without a jackpot winner, according to Powerball. Since then, 40 consecutive drawings have taken place without a jackpot winner, according to Powerball. If there’s no jackpot winner on Saturday, it would tie for the most consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. Harris' evolving role comes as progressive Democrats target Biden over his pro-Israel stance, polls show him in a tight race against Republican rival Donald Trump. While some have knocked Harris's performance as vice president and value to the reelection campaign in the past, she's moved into a starring role. Current and former Harris aides disputed the idea of any difference in policy between Biden, characterizing their efforts as a difference in tone and emphasis. Biden cannot emphasize divisive cultural issues without alienating more conservative voters he needs to win, current and former aides said. If Trump wins white voters, the largest U.S. racial group, for the third election in a row, Biden needs a dominant showing among a diverse set of groups that typically favor Democrats.

More than two years later, only four states — Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and Hawaii — have opened stations funded by the program. The Biden administration says the federal charging program is on track. The grants will fund 47 EV charging stations and related projects in 22 states and Puerto Rico, including 7,500 charging ports. But even some of the government’s own experts say 500,000 public chargers won’t be enough to meet Biden’s ambitious climate goals. The availability of charging stations is key to persuading Americans to buy EVs.

Kamala Harris arrived in San Juan, P.R., last Friday for her first official visit as vice president. The trip was meant, in part, to highlight the Biden administration’s dedication to aiding the island’s recovery. Ms. Harris’s roughly five-hour visit began in the community of San Isidro, in the municipality of Canóvanas. Many of the residents lack land titles, which made them ineligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency programs Ms. Harris aimed to promote. The area was originally an informal settlement built on public wetlands by those displaced after Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

A large suburban Philadelphia county has joined dozens of other local governments around the country in suing the oil industry, asserting that major oil producers systematically deceived the public about their role in accelerating global warming. The county wants oil producers to pay to mitigate the damage caused by climate change. The county's 31 municipalities will spend $955 million through 2040 to address climate change impacts, the group forecast last year. It said climate change policy is the responsibility of Congress, not local governments and courts. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a lawsuit by New York City against five oil companies to recoup damages caused by global warming.

I wanted a way to incorporate my maiden name into my kids' names to preserve my family legacy. Our family has also had weekend-long family reunions every two years in hotels across the United States since 1976. In exchange, I gave my daughter two middle names, the first name I originally wanted to name her and my maiden name. The kids will continue the tradition of going to my family reunions and bonding with my extended family. While they may not often use their middle names, they'll understand why mommy was adamant about also passing down her maiden name.

"To maintain supply of the high-quality chicken you expect from us, Chick-fil-A will shift from No Antibiotics Ever (NAE) to No Antibiotics Important To Human Medicine (NAIHM) starting in the Spring of 2024," the chicken chain said. Under the new standards, Chick-fil-A said that chicken antibiotics could be used, but only if the chicken and those around it were sick. A spokesperson told the AP that Chick-fil-A had had concerns about its ability to acquire supplies of chicken that had been raised without antibiotics.

The climate crisis ends up touching on all of those issues, as CNN’s chief climate correspondent Bill Weir told me. Removing politics from climate changeWOLF: It’s interesting to hear you say that about Texas, because the governor and the Republican-dominated legislature there would seemingly be opposed to doing anything specifically because of climate change. Joe Biden has tried to make the argument that addressing climate change should be an economic boom. It seems clear that we’re going to burst through the 2-degree tipping point that had been previously suggested as the tipping point for climate change. What that means for marine ecosystems and coral reefs, which are the cradles of life in the oceans, and what it means for the power of storms as we head into hurricane season has scientists really, really worried.
